After Juan Karlos’ “ERE” duet with Lukas Graham and Lola Amour’s debut on Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” tour, it’s indie pop-folk collective Ben&Ben’s turn, emerging alongside Grammy Award-winning musician Ed Sheeran for his rendition of the “Eras Tour” (+ – = ÷ x) at the SMDC Festival Grounds on March 9, 2024.
The nine-piece ensemble took their excitement to social media by sharing the event poster and a previous cover of Sheeran’s Divide staple, “Perfect.”
“Ma, special guest na kami ni Ed Sheeran sa concert niya. Parang dati lang, nagcocover lang kami ng “perfect” sa YouTube (Ma, we’re special guests for Ed Sheeran’s concert. It was like yesterday when we covered “Perfect” on YouTube.). “Never in our wildest dreams did we think this could happen. Surreal,” Ben&Ben wrote.
“Ibang iba pa itsura namin nun. Andami na pala nating pinagdaanan, Liwanag (We looked so different then. We’ve gone through so much together, Liwanag),” they added.
The Manila-based group, headed by twin brothers Paolo and Miguel Benjamin, broke ground in 2016 through their self-titled extended play, consisting of hits “Leaves” and Kathang Isip.” Their 2023-released track “Could Be Something” is considered the group’s “turning point” through a newfound sound that evidences their growth.
Ben&Ben has garnered international recognition. They previously secured the 29th spot on the Billboard Social Top 50 Chart and are Spotify’s most-streamed Filipino artist with over two billion on its platform.
