“Adventure is out there” proved to be true as Carl Fredricksen and Dug narrate a familiar tale—one just as exciting as Paradise Falls.
A first date.
“Carl’s Date” is a Pixar short film that is a follow-up to 2009’s “Up”. Since the passing of his wife, Ellie, in the original film, Carl is in pursuit of fulfilling her wish of possibly finding another adventure.
The clip adorably dabbles on first date jitters: the stressful preparation, the palpable tension, and the thought of letting someone new into the picture.
The short sees the return of original voice actors, the late Ed Asner as Carl, and director Bob Peterson as Dug, the talking Golden Retriever. “Carl’s Date” was accomplished before Asner’s passing and would’ve been the last episode of the 2021 series “Dug Days” before it was delayed for undisclosed reasons.
The 10-minute short film will be screened as a prelude to Pixar’s newest film “Elemental”, which is now available in cinemas nationwide.
