The Department of Tourism (DOT) Undersecretary Shahlimar Hofer Tamano and Assistant Secretary Maria Rica Bueno received the award on behalf of DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last December 1, 2023. According to Frasco, the award reaffirms the agency’s continuous efforts to develop the country’s image.
“With these remarkable triumphs, the Philippines reinforces its position as an unparalleled destination, inviting travelers to explore our captivating shores, vibrant underwater realms, and dynamic urban landscapes as they immerse in our culture and heritage and create unforgettable memories with the distinct grace and hospitality of the Filipino people,” she mentioned.
Apart from claiming the World’s Leading City Destination category, the Philippines also bagged five other major titles, namely the “World’s Leading Beach Destination,” “World’s Leading Casino Resort” (City of Dreams), “World’s Leading Dive Destination” (Amanpulo), “World’s Leading Dive Resort,” and the “World’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort” (City of Dreams) to go with eight regional awards.
