Catriona Gray’s Ms. Universe-winning ensemble returns to social media five years after her coronation as the pageant’s victor. Designed originally by Mak Tumang, two of her gowns resurfaced through an Instagram carousel, recalling her journey in Bangkok, Thailand as something “against the grain.”

Gray unveiled updated renditions of her “Ibong Adarna” and “Mayon” Volcano pieces, captured by BJ Pascual and conceived through the creative direction of Vince Canlapan and Vince Uy. Similar to its 2018 debut, both dresses tribute the original, evidenced by their overwhelming display of color and storytelling, showcasing her growth and truths behind her narrative.
According to her post, it wasn’t a straightforward route to achieve the crown or her selection for international representation. She talks about the unseen hours of dedication, her doubts competing, and the resounding waves of support and love from her family and the Filipino people.
“Here's to creating and bringing to life the visions we hold close to hearts, hoping that one day they'll capture the attention of the Universe ✨️ …it's as if the words I said that night were a manifestation over my life – I am so incredibly grateful. 🥹🙏✨️ Thank you everyone for celebrating 5 years since bringing home the crown of @missuniverse with me, 🥹” she mentions in a succeeding post.
