Netflix resurrects Nickelodeon’s 2005 animated fantasy action series Avatar: The Last Airbender (ATLA), eying a Thursday, February 22, 2024, debut on the platform. The original three-season franchise mainly tackles the journey of the Avatar, an Airbender named Aang, who looks to restore balance from the tyranny of the Fire Nation following his 100-year disappearance.
In anticipation of the live-action production, Gordon Cormier (Aang) and Dallas Liu (Zuko) visit the country, appearing at the Avatar: The Last Airbender fan event at Central Square, Bonifacio High Street, to promote the scheduled eight-chapter series.
Released by the juggernaut streaming platform, the leading actors of the series unveiled the surprise for their Filipino fanbase last Monday, February 19, 2024.
“We’re coming to the Philippines. Gulat kayo ‘no?…It's going to be amazing and so much fun, so please come and join us,” Liu, who plays Crown Prince Zuko, mentioned.
Apart from Cormier and Liu, Avatar: The Last Airbender stars Kiawentiio (Katara), Ian Ousley (Sokka), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Uncle Iroh), Elizabeth Yu (Princess Azula), and Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai).
