Jollibee’s take on Western-inspired Filipino fast food is regarded as a cultural symbol admired and sought after by many. Since its conception in 1975, the restaurant chain’s offerings have appealed to its overseas markets, promoting its sweet persona and evergreen “Chickenjoy” staple.
While its flavors are beloved by many, American record producer Benny Blanco says otherwise, taking his “disgusted” reactions to social media during his first encounter with the brand.

In a three-minute clip uploaded on his TikTok, Blanco sampled several items from a Los Angeles branch of Jollibee. The Grammy-nominated artist referred to the Chicken Adobo as “dry-ass” and the “Chickenjoy” as “soggy as f*ck” after dipping the drumstick into the gravy—which he attempted to do the same with the pineapple juice that he soon regretted.
Adding to his previous unsatisfactory experience, Blanco threw up a bite of the “Jolly Spaghetti,” mentioning that it “ruined his night”. The Peach Mango Pie proved to be the sole “okay” candidate. Blanco concluded the video by not recommending the Filipino fast food chain to his viewers.
Four days after its upload, Blanco received tremendous backlash from Filipino netizens, several emphasizing his disrespectful approach, especially when vomiting the spaghetti onto its tray.

In a follow-up video, Blanco retracted his previous statement upon trying Jollibee’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The 35-year-old producer may have changed heart, completely reversing his opinion on “how it sucked,” though the damage has been dealt.
