“Shining, Shimmering, Splendid! The legendary Lea Salonga will have her very own wax figure in #MadameTussuadsSG! Are you as excited as we are?”, Madame Tussauds Singapore’s post reads.
A creative tribute to Salonga’s distinction as the singing voice of Jasmine in the 1992 Disney film, Aladdin, the Broadway actor expressed her excitement and shared a behind-the-scenes look into her sculpting process.
“When my manager said this is happening—Madame Tussauds is interested in turning me into a wax figure, oh my God! What an absolute honor and privilege to be asked. It's fantastic!” she mentioned.
The exact date of Salonga’s wax statue unveiling has yet to be announced. According to Madame Tussauds Vienna and Sydney, the process normally consists of a three to four-month timetable (around 800 hours), requires at least 10 different artists, and costs approximately €250,000 (∼₱16 million).
