United Kingdom-based Filipino dessert nook Mamasons curates a taste of home through their delectable ice-cream flavors. Responsible for “the best Halo-Halo in London,” the birthchild of Florence Mae and Omar Shah prides itself in capturing “simple goodness” through their versions of dirty ice cream—affordable, widely available, and enjoyed by all.

Beyond placing Manila in a cup, Mamasons delves into the evergreen London fashion scene, injecting the vibrant Filipino spirit into its street-centric designs. Mamasons Collective’s Fall ‘23 Collection, “Mama’s Boy,” draws inspiration from New York skateboarding staple Supreme’s SS13 and Nigö’s Kenzo Paris capsule.
Apart from its Western-inspired appearance, the brand’s third collection simultaneously taps into cultural Filipino themes, evidenced by the red Jeepney slated on the rear of their tees as well as the “Mama’s Boy” branding—playfully capturing the essence of most Filipino boys through a cozy fashion-forward ensemble.

“Mamasons is the world's first Filipino Ice Cream parlour, and I wanted to play with Filipino culture and streetwear with our collection. We also created a core collection called Mamas Boy. This came from the idea that most Filipino boys are Mama's boys, and we wanted to embrace that. Originally being an ice cream brand, we wanted to create a merge between streetwear and the mamasons dirty ice cream brand,” Joseph Andal, Creative Director of Mamasons Collective, tells Complex Philippines.
Evolving from its artisanal ice-cream origins to producing high-end fashion pieces, Mamasons Collective showcases a glimpse of the possibilities of Filipino fashion—influenced by time while remaining grounded on its tropical heritage.
A daring step in a promising direction.
