Orchestrating an admirable tournament performance, the Philippines Women’s Hockey Team fell short against Iran in the championship matchup, settling for a runner-up finish.

The Philippine Eagles eluded defeat in the round-robin format, dropping their Kyrgyzstan, United Arab Emirates, and India counterparts, limiting the latter squad to a clean sheet (7-0) performance.
Finishing with nine points and a 17-6 goal difference, they met a fellow flawless Iranian force in the Finals, where they failed to put numbers on the board and conceded four goals—notably the lowest goal-scoring output of the 2024 IIHF Women’s Asia & Oceania Cup victors. The Nationals’ goalkeeper Rosalyn Lim concluded with a 90.10% save rate, blocking nearly a hundred attempts, 34 coming in the finale.
Undeterred by the outcome, the Philippine Women's Hockey Team looks to avenge their performance, hoping to reclaim the throne once more as the previous Division 1 Challenge Cup of Asia (now IIHF Women’s Asia & Oceania Cup) queens.
“Although we only secured the silver, I believe the future of women’s hockey in the Philippines is definitely heading in the right direction,” Philippine Women’s Hockey Team Alternate Captian Bianca Cuevas tells Complex Philippines.
