While many tend to question Kai Sotto’s ability to keep up on the international front, the Yokohama B-Corsairs’ man-in-the-middle has seemingly found his groove. Fresh off a 2025 FIBA Asia qualification stint with the Nationals, the 7-foot-3 center orchestrated a flurry of double-doubles during the last four out of five games for the 16th-seeded franchise.

The 21-year-old made headlines, receiving Player of the Game honors in their recent homestand, upsetting Thirdy Ravena’s San-en NeoPhoenix last Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Sotto provided 23 markets on 78.6 percent shooting in 27 minutes, finishing the match with 10 rebounds, a crucial second-chance putback, and the 81-76 win. His fellow Ateneo de Manila alumnus was held to 10 points and five rebounds as San-En dropped its fourth straight loss and seeding, now behind Utsunomiya Brex.
In his previous contests, Sotto averaged 20.4 points and 10.2 boards, winning three out of the five. Gilas Pilipinas’ first-string center looks to triumph (and possibly keep the streak alive) over last-place Toyama Grouses come Week 26 of the Japan B.League on March 20, 2024.
