Barangay Ginebra San Miguel sits at the peak of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup, gearing up for their awaited title defense. With their resident naturalized import Justin Brownlee indefinitely on the sidelines, the shorthanded Gin Kings scout for a replacement—one that has yet to surface.

Following the league’s media day at the One Esplanade, Pasay City, Ginebra’s Fil-Ger center Christian Standhardinger addressed the situation, mentioning that he knows the identity of the mystery acquisition, though failing to disclose any details.
“Well, I know, but I don’t know if you guys could. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say. I don’t want to get in trouble,” the 34-year-old mentioned.
He continued, inviting the media in attendance to guess Brownlee’s replacement, rejecting the possibility of former Petron Blaze Booster import (now San Miguel Beermen) Renaldo Balkman joining the squad.
The Puerto Rican was notorious for his on-court behavior, aggressively handling teammate Arwind Santos during the tournament’s 2013 rendition. His altercation resulted in a lifetime ban from the league, which was lifted in 2018 following the approval from former commissioner Chito Salud and incumbent commissioner Willie Marcial.
