At the onset of Magnolia Hotshot’s rout of the San Miguel Beermen in Game 3 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, veteran Calvin Abueva rekindled relationships with the opposition’s coach Jorge Gallent and forward-center Mo Tautuaa.
“The Beast” was captured interacting with the 55-year-old mentor following their second contest, appearing to be on good terms, sharing a brief chat and embrace.
Meeting halfway in the tunnel, Gallent warmly received the former second-overall pick, as if no damage was dealt.
“Wala ‘yan, tayo pa magkakapatid (We’re brothers, there’s nothing to worry about),” he mentioned in a clip.
Regardless of their ability to patch things up post-game, Abueva was fined ₱100,000 abiding by league regulations surrounding offensive remarks catered to the dignity of any person on account of “physical disability.”
“Progressing” from his previous altercations, Abueva’s six-point and seven-rebound outing off the bench was just enough for the Hotshots to narrowly escape with the victory—claiming the franchise’s first win of the series.
Now down 2-1, they look to go head-to-head once more at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday, February 9, 2024, hoping to draw a stalemate coming into Game 5.
