En route to Taft’s 12th Women’s Volleyball title, Outside Hitter Angel Canino received the tournament’s Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors—the second female to do so in the sport.
De La Salle Univerity found themselves in an early divot though halted the surging National University Lady Bulldogs. Canino garnered 19 points on 12 attacks, six aces, and a block, winning in three-straight sets: 19-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17, 15-10. The Bacolod native tallied 89.375 statistical points (SP),outlasting teammate Jolina Dela Cruz and University of Santo Tomas’ Eya Laure in a tightly contested contest for the MVP.
