PUMA Reintroduces Rihanna’s Fenty Creeper In A ‘Phatter’ Light

When noting PUMA's coveted collaborations, Rihanna’s influence remains unparalleled, evidenced by her near-decade-long partnership with the brand. 2023 marks her return under the German multinational manufacturer’s spotlight, reintroducing the “PUMA Creeper,” though now in a bigger, bolder, and “phatter” persona.

Dubbed the “Puma Creeper Phatty,” the newest entrant into the Grammy Award-winning artist’s collaborative arsenal showcases a fully suede upper, with a padded and debossed formstrip, debossed Fenty logo on the tongue, laces with gold aglets, and a stacked gum sole—possibly tributing Rihanna’s colorful persona.

The December 1, 2023, local release introduces three colorways: “iconic black and white,” “extra-bright blue and green,” and “lavender and cherry red.”

“We took our OG Creeper and made it bigger and badder,” says Rihanna. “When designing the Creeper Phatty, we wanted to reinvent the OG Creeper, which was loved by so many. It’s a classic silhouette that has been missed, so its return had to be bigger.”

First released in 2015, the “PUMA Creeper” emerged in a classic beige and black PUMA suede, sporting a ridged platform sole. Two years later, its “Pointy” counterpart surfaced, joined by a “Cleated Creeper” rendition—integrating varying materials and sole markups.

“The original Creeper changed the game for us…We knew it was time to bring it back. This shoe has universal appeal, and we’ve seen tremendous consumer excitement for the silhouette to return. We are excited to not only be able to build upon the existing silhouette with the Creeper Phatty but also expand our offering to the entire family,” mentions Maria Valdes, Chief Product Officer at PUMA.

The FENTY x PUMA Creeper Phatty will be available starting at 10:00 AM on December 1, 2023, at PUMA Stores 2F Glorietta 3, L2 Main Wing Shangri-La Plaza, GF Eastwood Mall, GF Venice Grand Canal Mall, McKinley Hill, and L1 Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City, Capital stores at SM Aura, Trinoma, Festival, Glorietta and Footlocker (Glorietta, Filinvest Festival, Seaside Cebu, Greenhills (Opening on December 24, 2023), Ayala Bay Mall, Eastwood, Araneta Gateway, Ayala Capitol Bacolod and Trinoma). It will also be available online on PUMA.com.
