Rare Michael Jordan Sneakers From 1998 NBA Playoffs Up for Auction

At this point, it’s not often that a pair of Air Jordans worn by Michael Jordan during his career hasn’t been re-released several times over. One of the few exceptions is the “Playoffs” Air Jordan 13 Low PE that was spotted on His Airness’ feet throughout the 1998 NBA Playoffs, including the storied Finals series against the Utah Jazz. One lucky bidder won’t have to wait for a release to own a pair, as one is set to be auctioned off soon.

Heritage Auctions is listing a pair of Jordan’s “Playoffs” Air Jordan 13 Low exclusives as part of an upcoming lot. The scaled-down version of the standard “Playoffs” Air Jordan 13 features a ballistic mesh upper similar to the equally iconic “Bred” colorway. Instead of a hologram, a silver-plated Jumpman logo adorns the heel. This particular pair has been signed by Jordan in silver on the left shoe.

While the “Playoffs” Air Jordan 13 Low PE has never been released to the public, Jordan Brand did drop a variation in 2015 dubbed “Bred.” That pair featured a full leather upper, red-lined interior, and gold Jumpman.

It’s believed that fewer than five pairs of these Air Jordan 13 Lows exist. Last year, a pair was auctioned off for $378,000 through Christie’s.
