PUMA is drawing in the pride of the Philippines as its new poster child.
Gilas Pilipinas’ gleaming threat in the middle, Kai Sotto, is recognized as PUMA’s first Asian basketball ambassador. The recent National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League debutant took to the court PUMA’s All-Pro Nitro, embossed in a Lime Squeeze-PUMA White colorway.

As the 7-foot-3 big man’s go-to footwear of choice, slipping on the pair posed a Cinderella-like occurrence, ushering the perfect fit. Its high abrasion rubber outsole coupled with NITRO™ foam technology generates comfortability and elusiveness around the basket.
“Ako dati medyo nahirapan ako sa shoes ko,” Sotto tells Complex Philippines. “Pero noong binigyan ako ng PUMA, talagang komportable lahat.”
“Gustong-gusto ko talaga ang lahat ng mga colorways ng shoes nila so parang every time na may box of shoes ako galing sa PUMA, sobra akong excited gamitin sa mga practices at sa FIBA World Cup mismo.”
(Before, it was difficult when looking for the perfect pair, though PUMA’s comfortability truly resonated with me. I get so excited to receive packages from them, seeing all the colorways and variety they bring. I’ll wear a couple during our FIBA World Cup practices and the tournament.)
Sotto’s headlining appearance at PUMA’s #OurBallAboveAll campaign commences the brand’s pledge in ushering its Filipino basketball-centric movement. The August 19-20 weekend provided a peek into the month-long campaign, supplemented by a three-on-three tournament, a three-point shootout, fresh cuts at a resident barbershop, and apparel customization opportunities onsite.
“#OurGameAboveAll campaign is a homage to the culture—the passion for the game, and we all know that every Filipino knows basketball,” mentions PUMA Country Manager Paolo Misa. “From today until the end of the year, it’s basketball season for us, as we’ll have exciting products coming in the next few months and more surprises along the way.”
