For Air Max Day 2024, Nike wanted to revisit the history of its iconic sneaker line leading up to the release of its latest silhouette, the Air Max DN. Who better to showcase some of the most-storied Air Max pieces than the sneaker godfather himself, Bigboy Cheng?
For the latest episode of Sneak Peek, Bigboy invited the Complex Philippines team to his house in San Juan and gave us a tour of his world-famous collection. Seeing it in person is equivalent to going to Disneyland for sneakerheads; everything is bright, colorful, and filled with “OOHs” and “AAHs”. Highlights included a couple of Air Max sneakers from Atmos (he’s a huge fan of the Japanese retailer), a pair signed by Tinker Hatfield (the architect of the Air Max), and a Friends & Family version of the Air Max 1 (the one that started it all).
After the tour, The Secret Fresh founder also gave his thoughts on the new Air Max DN, which boasts unreal comfort all day and night thanks to a dual-pressure air unit, the first of its kind.

“Grabe ang gaan, bouncy, and yung air-flow, napakaganda,” said Bigboy. “Maganda din dito is yung comfortability. Swak, walang sayad sa sides.” (It’s light and bouncy, and the airflow is great. It’s also comfy and fits perfectly without scratching the sides [of the foot])
Bigboy’s entire collection is estimated to be worth more than $1 million, and that’s for the sneakers alone. Inside are also rare artworks and toy figurines (Bigboy is a huge art geek), featuring the likes of Bearbricks and Joan Cornelia. But that’s a feature for another day. In the meantime, peep the full episode below, and some of the sneakers from Bigboy’s Air Max collection.
