Dubbed the Kid from Portland, 1/2 of KAYTRAMINÉ receives an inspired sneaker collaboration with Boston-manufacturing titan New Balance. American rapper, singer, and songwriter, Aminé took to social media to unveil his upcoming line—recognized as an ambassador for the brand since 2022.
Making waves in the pop culture and athletic scene, New Balance experiments with a spectrum of colors, seeing each ambassador distinctly chosen to embody the American pioneer. The 2020s saw Jack Harlow and Kawhi Leonard spearhead its movement as the 1906 Classic looks to another fledging hip-hop personality, spuing his unique flavors and breathability into timeless silhouettes.
Recognized through his vibrant tones and flavors, Aminé teases the awaited collaboration in a New Balance-produced advertisement—capturing a brown-yellow paneled billboard with crates of Bananas as an ode to the ambassador’s obsession with the fruit (hence, his iconic brand name).
Mirrored through his tightly-knit friendship with designer and pioneer Salehe Bembury, New Balance brought the partnership to fruition. Capturing the “Caroline” artist in an unreleased orange pair of 2002R ‘Protection Pack,’ questioning the spectrum of possibilities where the Club Banana artist may interject his influence.
(I’d love to witness the resurgence of the classic 574, though you can never go wrong with the 99x series. Whichever the case, I’m sure the collection will rightfully be “Good For You.”)
