Liza Soberano stunned on the red carpet during the Los Angeles premiere of her Hollywood debut, “Lisa Frankenstein.” The Filipino actor was also pictured alongside lead stars Cole Sprouse (The Suite Life, Riverdale) and Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania).
Newton plays high schooler Lisa Swallows, who accidentally reanimates a handsome corpse from the Victorian era, played by Sprouse, during a lightning storm. What follows is described as a “coming-of-rage” love story set in the backdrop of the 1980’s, blending elements of comedy, romance, and fantasy. Soberano plays Taffy — the stepsister of Lisa.

Soberano said she was initially offered to audition for the role by the film’s director, Zelda Williams. “They've got their main leads lined up. They were looking to fill other roles. [Zelda asked] How about auditioning for one?’ I was like, ‘Sure, let me check out the script,” she said.
The inclusion of the screenplay by Diablo Cody, who won an Academy and BAFTA Award for her work in 2007’s Juno, made auditioning a no-brainer decision for Liza.
“It's the kind of movie I've always wanted to do. It has horror, comedy, and romance in one. I was looking for a role that would really push me. Sure, it's a huge risk for my career, but that's what's exciting about it. I know I've learned a lot no matter how it turns out. That's what counts.”
“Lisa Frankenstein” opens in PH cinemas on February 7.
