De La Salle University-Dasmariñas’ (DLSUD) Senior High School (SHS) program is the newest recipient of Taylor Swift’s nearly two-decade-long reign, instituting an elective that delves into her discography come the institution’s second semester of the 2023-24 school year.
“Speak Now (Taylor’s Version): The Musical Artistry of Taylor Swift”aims to “dive into the tapestry of her artistry, unpacking the evolution of her sound through various eras, and unraveling the messages within her lyrics.”

the subject promotes collaborative practices through active listening and critical and creative thinking—a platform for avid Swifties who “recognize the power of music to connect, inspire, and learn.” DLSUD SHS’ Swift-based elective is one of the curriculum’s 78 available classes, introducing Bookbinding, Superhero Analysis, SpongeBob SquarePants, and K-pop, among others.
Similarly, Diliman’s University of the Philippines College of Mass Communications recently announced the integration of a Taylor Swift course at the undergraduate level titled “Celebrity Studies: Taylor Swift in Focus,” spearheaded by Dr. Cherish Brillon. Apart from Swift’s evergreen anthems, her class “explores the intersections of media with class, politics, gender, and race, as well as success and mobility-related fantasies, according to her interview with Philstar L!fe.
