As Disney+ resurrected “Percy Jackson And The Olympians’” live-action production last December 2023, the eight-episode series eyes a second season, tackling the events of the second novel, “The Sea of Monsters,” of the best-selling fantasy fiction series.
Starring Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri, the show’s debut garnered 26.2 million views, three weeks after its release on Disney+ and Hulu.
The Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger broke the renewal news during the company’s first-quarter earnings call for the fiscal year 2024, noting the excitement and approval of the American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate.
“Rich in magic, wonder, adventure and heart, ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ captivated the imaginations of viewers of all ages everywhere,” said Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television.
“We’re thrilled to embark on an exciting new quest and a season two with Rick Riordan, our fantastic partners at 20th Television, and the exceptional ensemble of cast and creative talent that bring this story to life,” he added.
The first installment of Rick Riordan’s brainchild, “Percy Jackson And The Olympians: The Lightning Thief” is executively produced by Riordan, Jonathan E. Steinberg, alongside Rebecca Riordan, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, The Gotham Group’s Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson and Craig Silverstein.
With no official news regarding the release date for season two as of writing, the series may debut on January 2026, following the timelines set from its first season’s production.
