Counter-Strike 2 comes with a limited beta test for select users
A new installment of the beloved Counter-Strike series is expected to release this summer of 2023. The classic first-person-shooter franchise continues to thrive in the present gaming scene with its current title of over a decade, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO), still being of relevance.
Responsible for the game’s inception in 2000, Valve Corporation’s upcoming title, Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) features dynamic gameplay, enhanced visuals, and overall high-resolution updates to its predecessor.
In a clip released by Counter Strike’s official Twitter earlier today, developers of the game initially revealed the utility of volumetric smoke grenades—being responsive to gunfire, adaptive to environment shades, and explosion physics.
Regarded as a pinnacle component in its search-and-destroy game format, teams possess the ability to take advantage of this feature, whether clearing out an angle or rushing a bomb site.
Today we’re excited to announce Counter-Strike 2. Counter-Strike 2 is an overhaul to every system, every piece of content, and every part of the C-S experience. First, let’s talk about smoke grenades: pic.twitter.com/iTtguRHJ0S— CS2 (@CounterStrike) March 22, 2023
Another factor worth mentioning would be the accuracy of the gameplay with the development of the rates of ticks. The sub-tick skeleton of CS2 integrates a more fluid experience, having all motions—whether movement, shooting, or throwing, occur in the same manner for all players in the lobby.
Although the newest title of the series is still in the works, select players get the opportunity to be one of the pioneering testers of the game until its eventual release.
Beta testers are selected (but are not limited to) the recent playtime on Valve’s official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing of these players.
If presented with the opportunity, users will receive a notification on their CS: GO menu, as more and more players will be invited over time.
The version of the game currently features both deathmatch and unranked competitive game modes on the classic Middle East terrain of Dust2.
