Well, that’s a surprising way of “securing the goods.”
A screening officer at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 attempted to ingest $300 worth of stolen bills from a Chinese national, captured through a CCTV last September 8, 2023. The clip sees the perpetrator stuffing the wad of cash down her throat and washing down the evidence with a bottle of water.

Ma. O Aplasca, Administrator of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS), mentioned the security officer involved is currently under “preventive suspension pending a probe.” The agency is reportedly in the process of filing an administrative and possible criminal case against the offender.
“Today, we have already forwarded the filing of the administrative case to our legal department…We will not rest until we’re able to identify and dismiss the last perpetrator of these nefarious activities,” Aplasca disclosed in an interview with CNN Philippines.
After a thorough review by the OST, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista authorized a “maximum penalty” to the individual/s responsible for the crime scene. The call for such a sentence was to avoid the possibility of similar scenarios from occurring, demonstrating “the Department’s determined push to rid NAIA as well as other attached agencies of scalawags,” the DOTr released in a statement.
