Out of the 3,812 aspirants who passed the 2023 Bar Examinations, one stood out for proving that everything happens in its own time.
62-year-old Rosela Calacala, one of the oldest bar takers for this year, admitted to reporters that passing the test wasn’t an avenue to support her family or gain financial stability, but rather to serve God.
“Sa Panginoon kasi okay na ang mga anak ko (To God because my children are already doing well),” said a teary-eyed Rosela. She also mentioned that she was a working student who attended law school for four years at Northeastern College in Isabela. She graduated without a failing grade.
According to a report by Philstar.com, Rosela was an accountant for 40 years before taking her chances at the Bar. When asked if she had a celebratory meal in mind, she mentioned “Lechon Baka”.
