Laufey returns to the Philippines for highly anticipated second and third encores in 2024. While her “Lauvers” look forward to her return, the Icelandic musician and record producer ventures on a personal side-quest, trying Filipino snacks and sharing the experience on her socials—similar to her trip in the previous year.
The 25-year-old previously took the news of her arrival in the country on X (formerly Twitter), asking her followers for snacking recommendations. Following the tweet which garnered over 650,000 views, 18,100 likes, and 1,000 reposts, she uploaded a 1-minute and 20-second review of her finds featuring local delicacies.
@laufey you guys have the best snacks i swear !! so excited to play here this week and meet you guys 🤍
From the variety of snacks Laufey presented, Ding dong was the first from her list, a salty-spicy mixed nuts packet with peanuts as its main ingredient, which she mentioned having previously tried and described it as “flavorful” and that it “made sense.”
She continued with Tomi: Super Sweet Corn, noting that it tasted “so much like corn” and similarly rich in flavor, followed by Polvorón which was “very buttery in a good way,” and the beloved Pochi: Strawberry Cream gummies.
Laufey then tasted Regent’s Cheese Ring snacks which appeared to be her least favorite from the haul. She concluded the clip with Philippine-staple Dried Mangoes that she immediately consumed, with the preconceived notion that she would like them before tasting them.
