First appearing before her Filipino fanbase at the Smart Araneta Coliseum last December 13, 2019, during her “Love, Poem” production, her reemergence on a Philippine stage marks her first show outside South Korea after almost five years. Reminiscing her four-hour set in the Big Dome, she recalled the experience to be similar to “a festival,” pleasantly embracing the cheers from those in attendance.
“This is not something that I just say really. I’m gonna bet everything that no one can beat Manila. I feel all my staff are so shocked right now. You guys are really the best. The people who love are all here in the Philippines. The city of passion and love: Manila. Salamat po. Babalik ako para makita kayo ulit (Thank you. I will be back to see you again),” she mentioned.
While several K-Pop idols graced the Philippine Arena stage, IU’s return marks the “first Korean soloist to headline a concert” at the world’s largest indoor arena. She is known for her R&B/Soul vocals and roles in several dramas such as “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” “My Mister” and “Hotel del Luna.”
