FELIP Defies The Status Quo with “ROCKSTA”

Ken Suson is better known as 1/5th of P-pop titans SB19, but underneath the uplifting and pop-laden aesthetic is a more intense alter-ego, FELIP. Suson’s 2021 solo project highlights his straightforward lyricism, vocal range, and proud “Bisdak” heritage as seen in previous releases, “Palayo” and “Bulan”.

FELIP continues to go against the familiarity of what made him famous with the release of his new rap single “ROCKSTA”. The music video reflects the rockstar lifestyle that the artist clearly aspires for – a “take me seriously” vibe that features a gritty B&W aesthetic complimented by deep, rumbling vocals.

The MV features shots of a burning microphone, FELIP covered in black paint and wearing a black mask while being surrounded by a group of frenetic dancers. The tonal shift from SB19 is clear, but what remains constant is the impressive production value that continues to set the bar for what OPM MVs should be.

ROCKSTA” serves as a teaser for FELIP’s debut solo EP titled “COM • PLEX”, which promises to explore the complexities of Ken as a solo artist, separate from the unified image of SB19. But regardless of tone, he can rely on the undying support of A’TINs, who made “ROCKSTA” a trending hit upon debut.
