Few can make a tonal shift as successful as SB19’s Ken. The Filipino act, which rose to prominence as one-fifth of the upbeat P-Pop boy group, has done a full 180 with his grittier persona, FELIP. The result has been amazing, with FELIP’s deep vocals matching perfectly with his darker and more punk-inclined music.
With the release of his album COM•PLEX earlier this month, FELIP has been busy with features and performances, most recently with his live iteration of “DRINKSMOKE” on the hip-hop platform, DOUGBROCKTV.
It’s a mesmerizing showing, filled with rumbling bass vocals, smooth transitions, and the magnetic self-assuredness you’d least expect from the usually-reserved Ken. But surprise outings and irresistible charisma have been the consistent theme with FELIP, and it’s a pleasure to be a witness to it all.
