If you have the buck to spare or are feeling generous with yourself, here are some local stores that can add some prestige to your sneaker rep—imagined or not.

Yes, we’ve heard the age-old arguments: it’s just footwear, functionality over style, no one’s going to look at your feet for more than five seconds—we get it.

But sometimes, there’s an itch to be a little aspirational with our sneakers. Who hasn’t had a guilty pleasure? So if you have the buck to spare or are feeling generous with yourself, here are some local stores that can add some prestige to your sneaker rep—imagined or not.

Commonwealth

Store locations: SM Aura Premier (Taguig), Rockwell (Makati), Greenbelt (Makati)

Founded in 2004 by cousins Larry Incognito and Omar Quiambao, Commonwealth is inspired by boutiques that the pair frequented in New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. Today, the name is synonymous with “class” and an elevated lifestyle.

With the tagline “For The Greater Good,” the multi-brand retail prides itself on being a pioneer of culture and style, with its selection of world-class brands, top-notch service, and local stores in the upscale neighborhoods of BGC and Makati.

Titan 22

Stores locations: Bonifacio High Street (Taguig), Vertis North (QC), SM Megamall (Mandaluyong), S Maison (Pasay), Alabang, Nuvali outlet (Laguna)

Stepping into Titan 22 Megamall feels like entering a billionaire’s man cave—leather couches, carpeted floors, a chandelier, and walls decked out with basketball sneakers like someone’s private collection.

Established in 2010, Titan 22 is the first and only basketball specialty store in the Philippines, acting as the home court for hoops fans to share their passion for the sport. Jordans, Nike, and adidas of the rarest models routinely call the store their home—until they sell out.

Capital PH

Stores locations: U.P. Town Center (QC), Trinoma (QC), SM Magnolia (QC), SM Megamall (Mandaluyong), Glorietta (Makati), Uptown Bonifacio (Taguig), SM Aura (Taguig), Festival Alabang, SM Clark (Pampanga)

The larger and more mainstream option on the list, Capital PH established itself with its wide selection of kicks, including those of lifestyle brands, like Veja, Vans, and Puma.

But, beyond sneakers, the local store also made its mark with its own in-house complementary cleaning service and a loyalty program called “Capital Gains,” which comes with perks such as points convertible to cash and discounts on your birth month.

AfterMarket

Store locations: Shoppesville, Greenhills (San Juan)

As the name suggests, AfterMarket allows sneakerheads to sell, trade, consign or pawn their pre-loved kicks. Each varies in condition, with the option to haggle for lower prices than those listed in-store or online. All items are authenticated and they offer full refunds in the unlikely case that a buyer gets duped.

AfterMarket’s resell nature means it hosts the rarest and most expensive sneakers, such as the limited-edition Nike Mag 2011, inspired by Back To The Future Part II.

It currently has a whopping price tag of PHP1.4 million on the AfterMarket site. Only 1,500 pairs exist in the world, making it a must-have for collectors with the deepest pockets. Other prestigious finds include the Jordan 1 Dior and Nike Air Yeezy 2.

Sanbera

Store locations: Sanbera online

What’s more prestigious than repping your own? Sanbera is a local store in Marikina that offers sustainable sneakers featuring natural rubber sourced from Davao and Coco-Coir (coconut-shredded) insoles.

The brand currently has one flagship model in five colorways: Classic White, Cream, Ocean Blue, and limited editions Classic Black and Summer Blue. The design adopts a minimalist look with single-color schemes to make the shoes adaptable to any style.

Sanbera was established in 2020 by father-son duo Noel and Mikko de la Paz, the same year Typhoon Ulysses ravaged most local shoe businesses. Today, Sanbera stands as a bright flicker of the once-iconic industry.

Each local store in this list caters to a particular guilty pleasure. Whether you’re looking for basketball shoes, limited edition cops, or simply proudly local kicks, these stores can definitely add sheen to your sneakerhead resume.

Sad not to see Sole Academy, though their curation has taken a hit since the start of the pandemic, their influence on many sneakerheads should be noted.
