ANTA Is Making A Case For Your Basketball Sneaker Rotation

While most of the Philippines is still dominated by the Swoosh and Three Stripes, ANTA is making a case to be included in the conversation. The Chinese sportswear brand has been lowkey establishing itself as a solid choice for performance wear among Filipinos for the past year, with a combination of sponsorships and overall quality fits.

The ANTA Varsity Project

College hoops is at fever pitch, arguably even more popular than the pros, so it only makes sense for an aspiring brand to get into the game – literally. ANTA backs the NCAA’s San Beda University, College of St. Benilde, the UAAP’s Adamson University, and the University of Sto. Tomas.

ANTA plans to expand its sponsorships to include more schools, such as Lyceum of the Philippines University, SHS-Ateneo de Cebu, and University of the Philippines Integrated School.

MPBL

ANTA is the official outfitter of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) which features clubs repping Philippine cities, in contrast to corporations like the PBA. In hindsight, the partnership makes sense, as MPBL founder Manny Pacquiao has his line under the brand.

League(s) of their Own

ANTA has partnered with SLAM Philippines to launch leagues showcasing upcoming hoopers and hidden gems.

The SLAM Rising Stars is an annual all-star game featuring the best high school players. Meanwhile, Shock The Game, a 4-on-4 full-court streetball tourney that originated in China, debuted in Manila last year, featuring 16 clubs, including top teams from Ateneo, CSB, UP, and UST.

The Klay Thompson Line

We at Complex have a soft spot for sneakers (surprise, surprise), so we can’t wrap this article up without mentioning Klay Thompson’s “KT” signature line. The KTs have some gorgeous colorways like “Ice Cream” and “Bay Area” coupled with technology worthy of an NBA superstar.

If you’re tired of missing out on raffles for heat pairs because of the overwhelming hype, the KTs offer equally good-looking shoes at a more accessible stature.
