Harry Potter Might Get Rebooted Into HBO TV Series

The magic displayed by the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has persisted over its reign of over 20 years. The globally renowned 7-run book and film franchise features the quests of a young wizard, greeted with an unwanted familial truth that he soon ventures into.

Despite the main arc of the cinematic franchise concluding more than a decade ago, HBO Max, in partnership with Warner Bros., is under discussion in the process of resurrecting the acclaimed franchise as a TV series.

Recently riddled with controversy, J.K Rowling will provide creative direction over her acclaimed works, ensuring it “remains loyal to her original material.” Unlike in the previous blockbuster films, the award-winning author will not be involved in the day-to-day production, nor will she assume a creator-like role in its development.

According to Bloomberg, the series seeks to rediscover the titles of the original series, with every season dedicated to a single book. This report was further elaborated on as the project remains “inconclusive,” as negotiations are still undergoing their preliminary stages, mentions IGN.

If successful, the awaited series will be streamed under a rebranded service, housing both HBO Max and Discovery+ titles and productions. Warner Bros. Discovery looks to organize a presentation this April 12 for its investors and the general public, delving into the apparent content merge and future releases under the label.

The Harry Potter franchise continues to pose its relevance with the latest film of the prequel series, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, being released in the previous year. Potterheads were then greeted with the anticipated action-role-playing game Hogwarts Legacy earlier this 2023—with both titles taking place around a century before the main storyline as the “boy has yet to live.”
